Antonio Conte is set to give castaway player Baba Rahman another chance at Chelsea.
Abdul Baba Rahman was loaned to Schalke 04 at the start of this season as Conte considered him surplus to requirements.
The 22-year-old was bought by former Blues boss Jose Mourinho in 2015 for around £22 million. He failed to impress both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, with the latter letting him leave on loan for the season.
German Bundesliga club Schalke, who are 10th in the league, are said to be keen on extending the Ghanian’s loan for next season.
However, Newcastle are also said to be interested in the speedy wing-back, as they look to bolster their squad ahead of their Premier League return.
But with little cover in the wing-back department at Chelsea, Conte is looking more favourably at Rahman to provide squad depth and to compete with Marcos Alonso in the left wing-back position, according to the Daily Mirror.
Chelsea will need reinforcements as they are set to battle top teams in the Champions League next season. Currently, there are no players to compete with Marcos Alonso.
Kenedy is one option but he has not yet played any minutes in the Premier League, having been recalled from a failed loan spell at Watford, making just one substitute appearance.
Rahman has made 13 appearances (6 from the bench) in the Bundesliga and has made two assists and has a respectable average of 2.4 tackles and 2 interceptions per game (Whoscored).
