With Liverpool dropping points away to Sunderland, Chelsea now have the opportunity to ‘mug off’ three of their biggest rivals with a victory at White Hart Lane.

Liverpool’s luck finally ran out against Sunderland, as the Reds were made to pay for their defensive frailties by a stubborn Sunderland side. The game finished 2-2 but could have been worse for Chelsea’s title challengers who were fortunate to escape a third penalty for a blatant handball.

Chelsea can now ‘mug off’ Klopp’s side by beating Tottenham on Wednesday to move the Blues 8 points clear at the top of the table.

Antonio Conte’s side also have the opportunity to ‘mug off’ Arsenal by claiming the win-streak record in a single season for their own. The Blues equalled the Gunners record of 13 straight wins against Stoke at the weekend. Victory against Spurs will see Chelsea surpass that record and claim it for their own.

In addition, Chelsea can ‘mug off’ Spurs, effectively ending their title hopes, leaving Pochettino’s side in a scrap for Champions League qualification.

Pochettino has recently claimed in the media that all Premier League clubs want his Spurs to beat Chelsea in order to close the gap between the top four.

“Maybe we will feel how Leicester felt last season — all the teams with them, against us!”

“It’s important for the Premier League for us to win, to try to stop them. In the end our challenge is to be in the top four.”

Chelsea could also ‘mug off’ Pochettino following his comments, especially given their recent history after their fiery game last season when Chelsea ended their Premier League hopes.

This fixture is arguably the most important Chelsea have faced for a long time, with records, points and bragging rights at stake. Lets hope the Blues can make it through this tough fixture with their win-streak in tact.
