Chelsea are preparing a £10m bid for Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj according to Italian newspaper La Nazione.

Serie A side ACF Fiorentina are willing to sell Milan Badelj as the Croatian midfielder will not extend his contract beyond 2018 according to reports in Italy.

The 27-year-old deep-lying playmaker has scored one goal and made two assists in 15 Serie A appearances this season.

According to reports in Italy, he is available for a low price due to only having one year left on his contract.

Badelj signed for Fiorentina in August 2014 from Hamburger SV for around €5m.

He is known for his passing, intercepting and tackling skills. He has completed 722 passes this season with a pass accuracy of 86%, of which 76% were forward passes. (Source: Squawka)

He has also made 24 interceptions and 21 clearances in 15 games for the Serie A club and he has the capability of providing cover as a defender in Antonio Conte’s back three.

Badelj has played under Fiorentina manager Paulo Sousa’s 3-4-2-1 formation and would be a suitable player for Conte given that he’s used to the three at the back formation.

Badelj has also been linked with AC Milan, Roma and Tottenham but Chelsea could potentially ask his former team-mate Marcos Alonso to tempt him to move to the Blues.

If Badelj does sign for Chelsea, he would be joining a midfield of; Fabregas, Matic, Chalobah and Kante, so he would likely be used as a back-up option.

Fiorentina are currently seventh in the Serie A.
