Kurt Zouma has today completed his season-long loan move to Stoke City.

As we reported earlier this week, Kurt Zouma completed a medical at Stoke’s training ground a few days ago but the move has only today been confirmed as the French international had to return to Chelsea in order to complete the necessary paperwork.

Once it emerged that Zouma was to be made available for loan by Antonio Conte, there was no shortage of interest from a range of clubs across Europe. Stoke are therefore understandably thrilled to have landed the young centre-half for the 2017/18 season, as was made clear by their Chief Executive, Tony Scholes:

“Kurt is a player that has many admirers within the game, and we are understandably delighted to have been able to bring him to the club.”

Stoke’s manager, former Blue Mark Hughes, added:

“Kurt is undoubtedly one of the most talented young defenders in the game, so naturally his arrival will enhance our playing squad for the forthcoming campaign.”

“On his day he is one of the most impressive defenders in the league, and whilst injury unfortunately hampered his progress at Chelsea last season, we are certain that we can give him the platform to recapture the form he showed prior to his setback.”

Chelsea will certainly hope that is the case and that Zouma can get some solid game-time under his belt at the Bet365 stadium. We, like all fans hope to see Zouma back to his pre-injury best this season and cannot wait to see him back at Stamford Bridge in a blue shirt for the 2018/19 season.

The Frenchman has already won two Premier League titles with Chelsea during his time in SW6, making 71 senior appearances so far.
